GWM Safety Service Schedule: What We Check
When we perform a general or log book service at Gidge Wizard Mechanical , here’s our dot-point checklist of what we inspect, test, and (if needed) replace. This gives you the confidence that your car is safe, legal, and performing well.
- Engine Oil & Oil Filter: Replacement with correct spec to ensure proper lubrication
- Other Filters: Air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter as needed
- Fluid Levels & Condition: Coolant, brake fluid, power steering, transmission fluid, washer fluid etc, check for leaks
- Brakes: Inspect pads, rotors/discs, drums; check brake hoses and lines; test brake fluid condition
- Tyres & Wheels: Tyre tread depth, wear patterns, tyre pressures (including spare), wheel alignment & balancing (if required)
- Suspension & Steering: Check shocks/struts, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, steering components for wear, looseness or failure
- Exhaust System: Leak checks, condition of exhaust components, mounts
- Belts & Hoses: Check for cracks, wear, tension on belts; hoses for cracks/swelling or leaks
- Battery & Charging System: Test battery health, alternator output, condition of terminals and wiring
- Cooling System: Radiator, coolant hoses, thermostat, water pump etc
- Lights & Electrical: Headlights, tail lights, indicators, brake lights, horn, dashboard warning lights, interior lights
- Wiper Blades & Windshield: Condition of wipers, washer jets, windscreen for cracks/chips that impair visibility
- Transmission / Drivetrain: Depending on interval, check transmission fluid, differential/axle fluids if applicable
- Safety Components: Seat belts, airbags (visual-inspections), child restraint anchor points if present
- On-Board Diagnostics: Scan for fault codes; check engine management system etc
- Roadworthiness / Legal Checks: Emissions (if required), smoke, leak or noise issues that could fail inspection
- Documentation: Log the service in your book, record kilometres/time, note any areas needing attention next service
